ABOUT MAGGIE
Maggie Cornejo is a communications professional with over a decade of experience in public relations, government, and public affairs. From the very beginning of her career—working on the campaign for San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and later at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group—Maggie discovered her passion for connecting with people and helping communities understand and engage with issues that impact their lives.
When she returned home to San Mateo County, Maggie had the opportunity to serve under County Executive Officer Mike Callagy. As a community specialist in North Fair Oaks, she worked directly with residents to strengthen the relationship between the County and the community, ensuring that voices often left out of the conversation were finally heard.
Her commitment and effectiveness led her to become a Legislative Aide for Supervisor Warren Slocum. In that role, she helped lead the Office’s bilingual communications strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic, making sure critical information reached families in one of the hardest-hit districts. She also brought together diverse stakeholders to move forward the $15 million revitalization of the Middlefield corridor, a project that not only reshaped infrastructure but also strengthened community pride.
Today, Maggie serves on the Redwood City Planning Commission, where she is helping to guide growth and planning in a city at the heart of the Silicon Valley. In this role, she continues her lifelong commitment to shaping communities that are connected, resilient, and inclusive.
Maggie holds a B.A. in Political Science from San Jose State University.
